Lake Rohunta Professional Review and Guide
"Lake Rohunta’s shallow waters harbor legions of aquatic plants, sometimes making paddling slow-going, especially on the southern reaches. Look for deer, osprey, ducks, geese, and other aquatic birds here. Blueberries grow in profusion is some places, and this is a great place to study trees, shrubs, and aquatic plants.
Anyone who drives across central Massachusetts on Route 2 has probably wondered about Lake Rohunta. We had driven by it many times before taking the time to check it out thoroughly. From the highway, the main lake appears to extend north from Route 2, but far more water actually lies to the south. While some houses occur along the lake at its widest sections, few motorboats ply these shallow, weedy waters. The surrounding woods may entice you to spread out a picnic lunch—particularly on the east side of the lake north of Route 2."
