Holyoke Range Professional Review and Guide
"Mount Norwottuck rises 1000 feet above the Connecticut River Valley on a long ridge of rocky peaks that formed from flowing lava millions of years ago. The centerpiece of Mount Holyoke Range State Park, the 1106-foot mountain is one of several scenic summits that are connected by a 10-mile section of the Metacomet–Monadnock (MM) Trail. A wonderful introduction to this low but prominent mountain range, this 4.2-mile loop includes many views as well as a trip to impressive caves once used as a hideout by defeated elements of the 1786 Shays’ Rebellion. Choose this hike throughout the year for pleasant snowshoeing, blooming wildflowers, warbling songbirds, or brilliant foliage."
