Detailed Trail Descriptions from Our Guidebooks

"Hikers searching for a more challenging adventure will find this loop trip right up their alley. Just locating the trailhead can be a daunting task for first timers. From there, an unmaintained, primitive trail follows a stiff ascent up the canyon of the south fork of Glen Alpine Creek before gentler terrain leads to Triangle Lake and the summit of Echo Peak. The steep, off-trail descent from Echo Peak to Angora Lakes is the crux of the route, but a refreshing dip in the upper lake followed by a glass of fresh-squeezed lemonade at Angora Lakes Resort are worthy rewards. An easy hike along roads and trail completes the return to the trailhead. The views throughout the trip of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding terrain alone are worth the trip."
