Scotts Lake Trail Professional Review and Guide
"A scenic meadow, a large pristine lake, and a challenging mountain—this remote route features all three, in that order. The majestic mountains of Carson Pass are viewed from Big Meadow, Scotts Lake, and Waterhouse Peak, all from a variety of unique and inviting vantage points (bring a lot of film). If time, energy, and/or experience are in short supply, skip Waterhouse Peak. Its climb is relentless and particularly steep toward the top. Call ahead of time for potential avalanche danger, and choose a clear and windless day if you’re aiming to claim the peak. The trek in the meadow to the lake is also suitable for cross-country skiers."
