Power Line Professional Review and Guide
"Get out of town quickly with this ride along the edge of South Lake Tahoe. Smooth singletrack follows the contours at the base of the mountains rising above Heavenly Valley. There are no long climbs, just undulating trail with several short rises; the biggest challenge is moving into the correct chain ring. Ride this as a loop, returning along the paved Pioneer Trail thoroughfare, or as an out-and-back entirely on singletrack. A portion of the ride is accessible to motorcycles and ATVs and gets dusty and chewed up by summer. This is balanced by a quiet meander along Trout Creek near the turnaround point. Most of the ride is through the shaded pine forest, with clearings along the way that offer views of Freel Peak and Lake Tahoe. Expect some seasonal creek crossings. This is an easy connect for other rides up Cold Creek and Fountain Place Road."
