Fontainebleau Hiking Trail Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Head on down to the bayou on the Fontainebleau Hiking Trail. This wide, grassy path leads to the grassy marsh of Cane Bayou, with white-tailed deer and gopher tortoises making an occasional appearance on your journey. The path is lined with plenty of wildflowers to keep the botanist, or artist, in you satisfied. Long, flowing Spanish moss drapes the trees along the bayou’s banks, giving the trail that quintessential Southern feel.
If you’re looking to find the quintessential image of the Southern outdoors, then look no further than Fontainebleau State Park in Mandeville, Louisiana. It’s everything you
would expect in the Deep South—dark green bayous, expansive salt marshes, flowing Spanish moss, and lots of hospitality.
You might be saying to yourself, “Isn’t Fontainebleau in Paris or a hotel in Miami?” Well, yes, but this park wasn’t named for the hotel."
