Star Creek Falls via Dog Slaughter Creek

Star Creek Falls via Dog Slaughter Creek Professional Review and Guide

"This hike travels down the Dog Slaughter Creek Valley, past Dog Slaughter Falls, to reach the Cumberland River. A bridge over the creek offers one of my favorite scenes in the area. The trail then begins downstream along the Cumberland, a Kentucky Wild River.

Skirt a long sandstone bluff, then pass under a precariously balanced rock before reaching the Star Creek trail shelter, a nice picnicking spot. A short walk up Star Creek, the next stream north of the shelter, reveals the ribbon that is Star Creek Falls. Outstanding Features: Dog Slaughter Falls, Star Creek Falls, rock arch, and trail shelter."

We did this trail with 6 inches of snow on the ground. From the lower trail head on FS 195 its only a wonderfull mile to Dog Slaughter falls. We didnt go any further to Star Creek since it was getting late in the day. But I will do and finish this hike some other time. I absolutly loved it and would recomend it.
