"You get grand views of Lake Cumberland on this hike, which explores one of Kentucky’s most popular state parks. This hike is a lot like walking through a city park, because you are never far from roads, buildings, and cars. But this loop route offers something you won’t find in many other parks of any kind: a huge lake. With a length of 101 miles and a shoreline totaling 1,255 miles, Lake Cumberland is one of the largest man-made bodies of water in the eastern United States. This stroll through Lake Cumberland State Resort Park takes you along an unspoiled ridge overlooking the 52,250-acre reservoir at one of its widest points. You then meander through the park’s developed area to a rock outcropping at the water’s edge, and end up at a commanding lake overlook. You’re in one of Kentucky’s most popular parks, so don’t expect wilderness. What you do get is a chance to see and enjoy one of the state’s premier attractions."
