Carrington Rock Overlook Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"A stone arch and ridgetop overlook are the chief features of this easy walk in the Daniel Boone National Forest. The overlook makes a great spot for lunch. Two centuries ago this part of Kentucky was a major producer of iron.

Like the old Buffalo community near what is now Greenbo Lake, the Clear Creek area played a role in that early industry. The 40-foot-tall furnace built on the banks of Clear Creek in 1839 operated off and on until 1875, turning out tons of pig iron for use in the manufacture of railroad wheels."
