Black Mountain - Kentucky Highpoint

Black Mountain - Kentucky Highpoint Professional Review and Guide

"There is some confusion about the exact location of the highpoint on this fairly flat site. We walked around under the lookout tower, then headed about 50 yards east of the tower to a boulder where the USGS marker is located. Sorry, but you can’t climb this tower.

This adventure is wheelchair accessible. All hikers MUST sign and mail a waiver to the coal company which owns the land around this highpoint."

This isn't a difficult trail and it's more of a road. It's good for beginners. There's a tower at the top and the views are beautiful. The hardwood forests are very nice too.

Little hiking needed to reach the high point. The directions were accurate. Interesting area since there is active coal mining in the area.
