Greenbo Lake Trail Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This pleasant trail follows a wooded ridge, meanders along a small stream, and ends on the shore of a fishing lake. Day hikers will find a number of good lunch spots, and there is a backwoods shelter if you want to make this into a leisurely overnight journey.
The park lodge is named for Jesse Stuart (1906–1984), a Kentucky poet laureate who lived a few miles away. At 3,000 acres Greenbo is one of the largest parks in the state system. The name is a combination of the Green in Greenup County and the Bo in adjoining Boyd County, where Ashland is located. In the late 1940s, residents of both counties initiated the damming of three small streams to create 225-acre Greenbo Lake."
