Russell Creek: Milltown to KY 68 Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Overshadowed by a plethora of nearby paddling destinations, Russell Creek offers solitude and good scenery. From its origins in eastern Adair County, Russell Creek flows northwest, gaining enough tributaries to become floatable at Milltown. From here the Russell meanders north to reach the Green River.

Russell Creek is generally runnable from late fall to midsummer and following heavy rains. Fishing is reputed to be good. The Class I waters, generally 30–40 feet wide and
velocity 0.5–3.5 mph. Occasional limestone bluffs rise from heavily wooded banks with sycamores aplenty. These thick woods obscure rolling farm-lands that lie beyond a paddler’s view."

If you love gorgeous scenery and flatwater paddling, this is a gorgeous spot to visit. The scenery is lovely and there are plenty of great places to access this waterway, via both the new (2018) Russell Creek Paddle Trail facilities and the Green River Paddle Trail, which includes parts of Russell Creek. The creek is popular among anglers, so expect to see quite a bit of people out fishing, both from the shore and from kayaks, when paddling this area.
