Kentucky Lake KY / TN Border

Kentucky Lake (KY / TN Border) Professional Review and Guide

"Short Take: 160,000 acres; shallow, stump-filled flats, boat docks, rocky points, major creek and river tributaries, some vegetation. One of the largest man-made lakes in the United States, Kentucky Lake has long enjoyed a reputation for its truly remarkable crappie fishing. That has suited the bass fishermen just fine, because for many years it probably lessened the fishing pressure on both largemouth and smallmouth that are found here.

Even after word began circulating about Kentucky Lake’s continuous catches of 4- to 7-pound largemouths and 5-pound smallmouths, however, it was still often difficult to visualize more anglers on the water simply because this lake is so big. Technically, Kentucky Lake stretches completely across Tennessee, beginning at the Pickwick Lake Dam in Counce and continuing all the way to Gilbertsville in Kentucky. In reality, for more than 60 miles between Counce and Camden the lake is simply the Tennessee River. Primary Species: Largemouth and smallmouth bass."
