Energy Lake Campground

Energy Lake Campground Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Most sites have electric hookups, with nonelectric sites scattered throughout the campground. Located on the east side of the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, this is smaller than some of the other campgrounds in the region with electric hookups. This off-the-beaten-path campground enjoys smaller crowds and less structure; the sites have minimal privacy. Because of the irregular shape and steep angles of parking aprons, Area B contains the campground’s only tent-only sites.

Sites 5, 6, and 7 in Area C are on a small loop that overlooks the lake—nice sites but best suited for tents or small RVs. Campsites 3, 4, and 5 in Area D are accessed via a very steep downgrade. Only walk-in tent sites are available as first-come, first-served. I really like this campground, mostly because much of the year it has little traffic and wildlife can be viewed right from the campsite."

Although has this in the wrong location, this is an easy trail through the woods. It wanders by a foundation left from the evacuation of homesteads when the lakes were flooded and travels along the Kentucky Lake shore for a bit. If leaving from the road trailhead you will end up in the Energy Lake campgrounds where you can interact with the happy campers as you pass thru on the way back to the car.
