Mammoth Cave Turnhole Bend Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This is a nice stroll down well-worn, shaded trails to a quiet campsite above a bend in the Green River. The walking is mostly level, and the campsite at the end is a popular destination. A short bushwhack downhill from the campsite is needed to reach the riverbank, which offers excellent fishing. This trail can easily be combined with others in the area to offer a multiple-night backpacking trip.
If planning an overnight trip, you should be aware that backcountry camping is only allowed in designated campsites or on the banks of the Green and Nolin Rivers. Permits are required, and campsite permits are site-specific, with each site limited to eight people per night. This means during busy seasons you may not get your first choice. The earlier in the day you show up at the visitor center, the better your chances. Campsites are in pleasant places, but are primitive."
