"This Boone County park trail system will surprise. Your hike traverses bottomlands where ancient and enormous sycamores curve skyward in incredible arcing beauty. Middle Creek is an alluring stream in its own right. Leave the bottomlands to roam among deeply wooded hills draining into Middle Creek.

Along the way you will visit an old chimney from a forgotten cabin before dropping back to Middle Creek and completing the loop. Other shorter trails bisect this circuit in case you want to alter your hike."

"This hike consists of two separate but nearby loops on wooded ridges with wild flowers and some limited views across the Ohio River valley. Together, these two short loop walks in the rolling Middle Creek area of Boone County make a pleasant, leisurely half-day escape from the urban bustle of northern
Kentucky.

Both are easy rambles up wooded ridges covered with wildflowers and offering views—though limited by the surrounding trees—across the Ohio River into Indiana. Distance: 3.4 miles for both loops (1.7 miles County Cliffs for each loop) Rising Sun and Lawrenceburg (IN/KY).
Hiking time: About 2 hours for both. Difficulty: Easy. Special considerations: These two short loops."

My trip included Middle Creek outer loop, Dinsmore Woods, and Boone County Cliffs. These short hikes (about 3 miles each) are a great relaxing hike to get away from city life for a while. Middle Creek can be EXTREMELY muddy on days with large amounts of rain. Middle Creek is also a shared horse trail, so the trail does get beat up quite a bit from all of the horse traffic.

Nice quick hike, pretty scenery. Easy, but hard to get to from Cincinnati or from the interstate.

This trail is perfect when you are with your wife and young children. Very secluded but not far from town (Florence). If adventure is what you seek, this is not the place. It is a simple and picturesque trail that appears to be "old grow forest" that is perfect for the beginning hiker-or the hiker trying to give non-hikers a small taste of the outdoors.

The second set of coordinates in this eTrail are wrong. After downloading see the "Finding the trailhead" section. The possible correction is that the 82 should be 84.
