Sherwin Lakes Trail Professional Reviews and Guides

"Historic Hayden Cabin, the local museum, is in Mammoth Creek Park. You will have excellent views of Mammoth Mountain and Mammoth Lakes."

"Sherwin Lakes consist of five lakes nestled in the Sherwin Range on the east edge of the town of Mammoth Lakes. Except for crossing Sherwin Creek close to the start of the trail, the uphill hike is very dry until you reach the lakes. Make sure you carry enough water for you and your dog. The loose dirt trail begins through mostly high-desert sagebrush, which quickly transitions to pine trees where you cross Sherwin Creek on a wooden footbridge."

Great hike if you are short on time. Lots of dry swtichbacks to get up to the lake, but really isn't too far. Lakes are set back in a beautiful bowl below snow covered peaks. Can be pretty busy on weekends and afternoons.

Great hike, harder then it tells you but fun and beautiful none-the-less. Great for dogs and as long as they can go an hour with no water. Amazing this time of year cause the lakes are frozen except where the river enters the lake.

A wonderful trail for a stroll in the evening. We saw deer and squirrel everywhere. As described in the guide the highlight is the lower lake which is perfect for a picnic or letting the dog swim.
