Tipsaw Lake Trail Professional Reviews and Guides

"Located about 45 miles west of Louisville, Kentucky. Taken slowly, it's a gentle romp through the woods, with just enough technical challenge to keep it from being mundane. Taken at speed, it's a challenging little loop with rocks, roots, ravines, and other wheel-turners. If you have a beginner itching to try out the sport, here's the place to go. The trail has a little bit of climbing, a few minimally technical sections, and can be completed in an hour or so.

A little experience will be helpful; real first timers may have to walk a few sections. The trail alone would be worth coming here for. Another reason to come down is that there's plenty of other stuff to do. There's camping, a clean beach with a modern bathhouse and concessions, picnic shelters and, of course, the lake. Tipsaw would be a great place to blow an afternoon in a canoe or sailboat, or fishing (electric motors only)."

"Tipsaw Lake, one of Hoosier National Forest's newest recreation areas, offers more than five miles of predominantly singletrack trail circling the lake. This is a great route on which to introduce novices to Indiana's National Forest.

The grades are relatively easy, there are a couple of moderate climbs, and the lake stays in view much of the ride. After the ride, go for a swim, angle for fish, or simply relax at your campsite - then ride some more, of course. Trail surface is singletrack, doubletrack, and forest road."
