I have hiked this trail many times, dating back to my youth, and have never been disappointed. The views from the top and bottom are stunning. I will warn you, the easy hike to the lip of the ravine hides the more than 100 steps to the bottom. I love coming here in summer and walking the creek; seeing the preserve from the waters perspective really unlocks the beauty of this place and helps you get a feel for the forces that created it. Honeycomb rock and the rock slide areas are wonders of time and water. The plants and animals that can be seen here are no less inspiring. Do not miss a chance to see this place.

One warning: on weekends (especially near holidays) this place can see loads of people, so if you are like me, see it on an off day. happy hiking!

Considering that I couldn't seem to find virtually any information on this area of than utilizing Trails, I was amazed that more people don't hike this area. Pine Hills is one of the most beautiful areas that I have ever seen in Indiana. The different backbones that cut through this area as well as the creeks and other features like Honeycomb rock you make you think you are in a totally different location. It was also very peaceful and quiet when I was there; this includes Shades as well, when I only encountered a couple other people the entire time I was there. Definately a must see.

Easy trail with amazing variety of topography in a very short distance. Perfect when you don't have a lot of time. We had ages 7 months to 55 years. Hikers and non-hikers. Something for everyone. A real gem of a trail with features hard to come by in the Midwest. Pristine water quality with an abundance of small fish species. All left wanting more! We'll be back for the different seasons.

This is a very cool place as it is just for hiking so you don't see the crowds that frequent Turkey Run. It is a beautiful area with sheer rock faces and a small creek that contrasts the corn fields you pass on your way to the park from Indianapolis or Crawfordsville. I used to drive 1.5 hrs to make this hike as it offers some elevation change.
