North trail was very nice. Quiet, scenic and had the trail to ourselves. Short walk, but definitely worth the side trip if you're not in a hurry.
South trail pleasant but not particularly remarkable.
Learned rock climbing here in the late 60's. No longer allowed. Amazing how the forest has matured in the 40+ years since the last visit.

I love this trail. I started coming here back in the 70's and 80's as a child and still enjoy this short hike. In a state that doesn't have mountains or whitewater rivers, this provides me with a sanity break. The trail is available year-round to hiking. The fall is a beautiful time to go, but be careful of hornets and yellow-jackets. There is another option to doing the loop back out, if you are adventurous. Good luck finding it. This is an easy hike that can be done in 30 minutes or you could easily spend the day exploring around. You can also take your dog if you don't mind him/her getting muddy. There is a nice creek that you can wade in, if there is enough rain in the summer. If you frequent this area, make sure you join or make a donation to The Nature Conservancy. Happy Hiking!
