Delphi Canal Trails Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Fort Benjamin Harrison, or “Fort Ben” for short, is Indiana’s newest state park, established in 1996 after the Indiana Department of Natural Resources acquired about two-thirds of the former military post from
the U.S. government.

The 1,700-acre state park contains several large tracts of hardwood forest, three small lakes, Fall Creek, Lawrence Creek, and a championship golf course. Low spots along Fall Creek can be muddy in wet weather. A popular new urban park, Fort Ben draws a lot of visitors, and the trails get considerable use. This is a loop trail, with two short spurs at the beginning and end of the hike."

It's a nice (almost) wilderness park in Indianapolis. the trail was easy (not moderate). The only drawback is that as you walk along the bank of Fall Creek you are able to see the back yards of large houses that have been built up on the other side of the creek. It kind of takes a bit away from the ambiance. However, the kids loved the trek.
