Whitewater Canal Historic Trail

Brookville, Indiana

Whitewater Canal Historic Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Follow an old towpath along the Whitewater Canal, once used to transport people and goods. You will start in quaint Metamora, Indiana, then curve along a huge flat of the West Fork Whitewater River. Views of fields and hillsides stretch before you. The trek parallels an old railroad grade that was built atop the towpath. The railroad tracks end and you follow the towpath through woods, coming to a great vista along the Whitewater River. Your trip ends at an old stone lock. You can explore the remnants of these structures used to raise and lower boats on their canal journeys."
