Really pleasant overnight trail close to Indianapolis. Trail is relatively flat and easy with two nice 'formal' campsite along the trail to Lake Monroe, and then numerous 'sites' along the lake itself ('sites' are basically relatively flat spots with stone fire-pits that people have built over time, though you can camp anywhere you wish). Beautiful view of the sunset from any place you would like to camp.

Haven't yet hiked all the way to the end of the peninsula on this, the Peninsula Trail, but I can speak for and love the rest of the trail. It is relatively easygoing compared to some of the surrounding landscape, following ridgelines and dipping shallowly in and out of valleys. Plenty of excellent camping spots to choose from, or make your own off the trail. Watch out for the occasional horse or horse "present".

This was a pretty quiet trail and scenic for some nice views of Lake Monroe. It ends to an area that is probably often used by the local university as a party beach. The beach is full of small sharp rocks and many spiders, so camping would be difficult. Good day hike though.

This is a very nice trail with a gentle incline to the lakes edge. There are some beautiful camp sites with picnic tables but they can get populated quickly by boat ins. The swimming is nice and the fishing isn't bad but the place can get a little trashed from people not taking their garbage out with them. Combine the Peninsula Trail with the Grubb Ridge Loop for a nice gentle two day trip of about 18ish miles.
