As I drove around the bend from the entrance of Beaver Dam State Park to the lakefront, I immediately wanted to stop, get out of the car, and stretch out on one of the benches facing the lake to take in the view. The lake is the centerpiece of this picturesque park, with its gently rolling hills, mature oak and hickory woods, marshlands, and picnic areas overlooking the lake.
The man-made parts—lakefront, restaurant, pavilions, docks, and restrooms—are also well maintained and attractive. Visit just about any weekend during camping season, and you’ll see that Beaver Dam is a popular destination.
