Like the fingers of an outstretched hand, the little peninsulas on which the campgrounds at Walnut Point State Park are situated jut out into the beautiful 60-acre lake, providing easy access for fishing or boating, and affording a scenic view right from your campsite. In some cases you can row up to your site or fish at a dock just a few steps from your tent. This small park boasts 60 sites, but they are spread out in separate loops, so they don’t have the typical “sardines-in-a-can” campground feel. The tent-only campsites are walk-ins—close enough to parking to be convenient but far enough that they’re not as popular as the pull-in sites. And tent campers can use the showers—a nice perk.
