This route starts on Chicago’s northwest side and follows the North Shore Channel’s wooded banks through the communities of Lincolnwood, Skokie, and Evanston. In Skokie the route winds for 2.0 miles through an outdoor sculpture park before meeting up with the Green Bay Trail. The Green Bay Trail launches you on a tour of Chicago’s swankiest North Shore suburbs of Wilmette, Kenilworth, Winnetka, Glencoe, and Highland Park. A few on-street sections of this route follow quiet roads. The longest section by far is the 1.5 miles between the north end of the North Shore Channel Trail and the south end of the Green Bay Trail in Wilmette. While following several short on-street sections through parking areas near train stations, watch for cars pulling out of parking spots.
