"This trail offers a perfect chance to get to know Aurora and its nearby residential and rural environs. West of the city, the trail repeatedly crosses Blackberry Creek and occasionally runs alongside its wooded banks. After crossing a new 100-yard-long trestle bridge over IL 56, the trail bobs and weaves through stunning woodland at Bliss Woods Forest Preserve. The first few miles of this trail offer an introduction to the modest leafy neighborhoods on the east side of Aurora. After an initial stretch where the trail traces an embankment that rises about 6 feet above the surrounding cropland and bottomland woods, residential neighborhoods take over. At 2.7 miles the trail crosses the Fox River on an old latticed train bridge. Before taking in fine views of the Fox from the high bridge, you may consider a side trip south on the 4.6-mile riverbank trail to the town of Oswego." Read more
