Des Plaines Fish and Wildlife Area Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The bottomland terrain of this park contains plenty of agricultural fields, wetland, ponds, and backwater. Some campsites sit very close to the backwater of the Kankakee River. Thick oak woods offer plenty of shade, and a couple of close-by ponds add to the atmosphere.

The campground lies out of earshot of I-55, but nearby railroad tracks host frequent trains. In the vicinity, explore miles of trails at Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie and Goose Lake Prairie State Park."
