Get ready for a 22-mile-long roller coaster ride as you negotiate a series of steep climbs and descents that will have you either trying to catch your breath or searching for the brake levers. Along with four deep ravines—including some that plunge nearly 300 feet—you’ll encounter two wineries, a handful of tree-lined creeks, winding roads, thick fairy-tale forests, and a well-appointed barbecue joint. Wines made from locally grown fruits such as apples, strawberries, and peaches. Arriving back on top of the bluff, open grassy areas alternate with deep woods. Swing onto Jerusalem Hill Road, and you’ll pass a hilltop church surrounded by an old cemetery. From the cemetery, take in long views of far-off wooded hills as you begin another high-velocity downhill stretch.
