Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Built mostly on an island in the backwater of the Mississippi River, this campground allows visitors views of the widest spot on the Upper Mississippi—3.5 miles from shore to shore. From your campsite, watch the huge barges heading up and down the river or watch a flock of pelicans fly overhead. The backwater wetlands east of the island are rife with wildlife.

This gem of a setting caters mainly to RVers who don’t mind if the partially shaded campsites are closely situated. To see more expansive wetlands and a unique sand prairie, consider taking a hike or bike ride along the Great River Trail, which heads south near the guardhouse."
