This leisurely trail along the Chicago Harbor is one of the most culturally vibrant walks in the world, passing three renowned museums and a bevy of historic landmarks. As you skirt the eastern edge of Chicago’s “Front Yard,” you’ll actually be walking on top of rubble from the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, the first of many landfills used to create Grant Park and Museum Campus. The first half of the hike is also popular with joggers and bicycle commuters, but the rest is a surprisingly quiet stroll next to Lake Michigan’s many shades of blue.
