Logan Square and Humboldt Park Professional Review and Guide
"The best thing about including a walk from Logan Square to Humboldt Park is simply including it. These two areas were much knocked about from the 1930s on as constantly changing demographics and waves of poor immigrants overwhelmed the community’s ability to be selfsustaining. Once jewels in the “ring of pearls” that was the Boulevard System (see below), the communities hit the skids. Now things are changing. Logan Square has gentrified, and once-grand rows of houses are grand again; Humboldt Park is following, especially as the Park District is finally giving the namesake park the care and attention it deserves. But these changes are wrenching; the very communities using the Humboldt Park neighborhood as the first stop on the way to a better life are resisting the economic forces pushing them out."
