Giant City State Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This sprawling campground resides within one of the premier state parks in Illinois. The gently rolling terrain is heavily canopied by maple and oak trees, and surrounded by dense forest. The tenting area is open, grassy, and large. The park abounds with excellent hiking trails where you’ll encounter big boulders, sandstone cliffs, small waterfalls, and a variety of wildflowers and ferns.

Ivy clings to the rocky cliffs and hardwoods tower overhead in the dense upland forests. Campers may be serenaded in the morning by the park’s thriving population of wild turkeys. They gobble all year long, but reach their zenith in Apr as hens prepare for egg laying."
