Lake Walcott State Park

Lake Walcott State Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The campground is located next to the Minidoka National Wildlife Refuge, which includes all of Lake Walcott and considerable land on its eastern side, so there are loads of animals to see. The location on the shore of Lake Walcott (an artificial lake created by a Bureau of Reclamation dam) is like an oasis in the desert (and in fact sagebrush country predominates outside the bounds of the shady and almost forested park). Walcott is a favorite with Boy Scout and other groups.

It is a well-maintained and manicured park, with facilities for both RVs and tents. It also is a general- purpose recreation area that includes an eighteen-hole disk golf course and other sports facilities. It also is a nature preserve area, and a wide range of plants and animals (about 150 species of birds) can be seen."
