Aquarius Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Aquarius is shady and forested and right next to the North Fork of the Clearwater River, just a few miles east of the point where it widens into the Dworshak Reservoir. When driving from Pierce, this is the first of several campgrounds you’ll see along the North Fork of the Clearwater River. Kelly Forks, Noe Creek, and Washington Creek are still farther to the northeast. (Aquarius is the only one in this area you can reach without leaving paved road.) Fishing is prized here, and hiking trails are scattered all around the campground. Garbage services are limited; campers are advised to pack in, pack out.
Several new sites have recently been added. Two group campsites labeled as Purple Beach also are located here. The forest service also notes, “Hiking trails near the campground take hikers and backpackers alike into the Mallard Larkins Pioneer Area and to the Black Mountain summit, one of the few remaining places in Idaho where mountain goats can still be seen.”"
