Owyhee Meanders

Owyhee Meanders Professional Review and Guide

"Don’t be misled by the relatively short distances for this hike. Nearly the entire trip is off trail, and some of the route is rather rugged, so it will take you much longer to walk a mile here than on a well-maintained trail.

In addition, the distance you actually cover will turn out to be much greater than the minimum distances listed here, both because you will have to walk around lots of rocks and sagebrush instead of going in a straight line, and because you will probably want to deviate from the shortest course in order to take in the superb views along the winding canyon rim. Finally, this country is so far removed from almost anywhere else in Idaho, it will take you a long time just to reach the starting point."
