Anderson Ranch Dam Spillway

Anderson Ranch Dam Spillway Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"For many years this was an overnight camping site, but in June 2014 the forest service banned overnight stays because wildfires destroyed enough vegetation to increase the potential of mudslides. The site is included here, however, because the change is relatively new and the problem may be fixed in coming seasons. Besides, this is an unusual site, a recreation area located just next to a large dam.

Most of this area is day use only, for picnicking and hiking. The landscape has only occasional trees (shade is available, though this isn’t a forested mountainside), and the ground is rocky. But the view of the reservoir can’t be beat. Even if it’s only in the daytime, you can pull up a chair, stare at the water reaching off into the distance, and bliss out."
