Montour Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This is a standard Bureau of Reclamation “manicured” campground, with mowed lawn (kept green with a sprinkler system), chain- link fence all around, and a gate that is closed at night. Dogs are allowed on leashes.
A dump station is available. Most sites are pleasantly shaded. For many visitors the draw here is the Montour Wildlife Recreation Area, which stretches out to the north, northeast, and west of the campground. (Farmland lies to the south.) Bird hunting is allowed in some areas (except in “safety zones”), but birders will find this region a paradise, too: California quail, rink- necked pheasant, and gray partridge are abundant types here. Pheasants from game farms are released as well on the opening day of hunting season. A state fishery may eventually be developed here, too."
