Old Boise, Nampa, and Owyhee Rail Bed Trail

Old Boise, Nampa, and Owyhee Rail Bed Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Located at the fringe of the Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area, the 500-foot-long Guffey rail bridge at Celebration Park serves as a gateway to 475,000 acres of open sagebrush desert. Start by crossing the renovated rail bridge and continue upstream on dirt trails along the Snake River.

The Union Pacific as well as other rail companies once owned the original railbed, known as the Stoddard Line. The old rail bridge was abandoned in 1948, and Celebration Park purchased it in 1989. The park renovated the bridge for foot traffic. It is a historic icon used by recreationists to access motorized and nonmotorized trails in the conservation area. Be sure to stop at the education center at Celebration Park, Idaho’s only archaeological park. Consider refreshing yourself after your park visit at the tasting rooms of local wineries off ID 44."
