An intense climb at first with big inclines, but the reward is lots of beauty. The wildflowers are exploding and the lake is refreshing, cool, clear and awesome. This seems like it would make for a great backpacking trip, too, although the climb would be even rougher with a pack.

Very nice trail. First half is mostly climbing, then level off through a nice meadow before descending back down to the lake. The wildflowers were still blooming, although the Bear Grass was no longer in bloom.

Found plenty of huckleberries right along the trail which made for a tasty snack along the way. The lake water was still cold but made for a very refreshing swim after a few hours of hiking.

The trail is well marked and worth the effort.

There was snow at the top, wet pretty much all the way along the trail. Wear pants due to brush, fallen trees.

As you might guess, it's too early to get to Box Lake. The creek crossings and snow obscure the trail and make for a high level of navigation.
