Star Hope Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Finding the campground: From Mackay drive 16 miles northwest on US 93, and then turn left (west) onto the Trail Creek Road. Follow it 18 miles to the Copper Basin Road; turn left (south) and drive 13 miles to the Copper Basin Loop Road. Turn right (west) and follow it 9 miles to the campground.

The campground: High up in the Pioneer Mountains near the headwaters of the Star Hope Creek, this campground is located in a high mountain meadow—one of the highest elevations of any Idaho campground. It is also relatively advanced for a forest service campground in this area; at least one with barrier-free access site and toilet is available, and the water is available by faucet instead of hand pump."
