Pine Flats Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This is a good family campground with ample shade and room for children to play—but a couple of its best assets call for a cautionary note for parents. First, the South Fork of the Payette River is close by and rumbles pleasantly, but it’s down a steep hill, which can be a treacherous climb, and the river runs fast here—this is not a place for swimming (though experienced boaters will be attracted).
Second, natural hot springs can be found about a half mile downriver, but be careful of these: The forest service warns that they are extremely hot and can cause burns. If you’re thinking of bathing here, check it out very cautiously first."
