Wilderness Gateway

Wilderness Gateway Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This is the largest campground on the Lochsa River and the only one on the US 12 corridor located across the river from the highway. (A good, sturdy bridge provides access.) The large campground has four loops.

Of these, the D loop (farthest back from the river) is geared toward people who want to bring horses for a ride. True to its name, Wilderness Gateway is close by the northern border of the Selway- Bitterroot Wilderness Area. A number of trails cross here, including one devoted to bird watching."
