Smokey Cubs Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Similar to McFarland, this is more picnic area and rest stop than campground, though camping is allowed. As at McFarland, camping is arranged mostly around a circle, though here, there is an additional camping area behind the trees that line the circle. It’s a well-maintained site and of special interest to hikers: It is on the Nez Perce National Historic Trail.
Smokey Cubs is located at the base of the Beaverhead Mountains, right off ID 29, which runs from Leadore into Montana. The first 5 miles out of Leadore (about a mile beyond the campground) are paved, but it turns to gravel as it winds through the mountains."
