West Fork of Prairie Creek

West Fork of Prairie Creek Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The short West Fork trail follows a meadowy creek that sinks into a rockslide and emerges at the bottom. The scenic Prairie Lakes Trail (Trail 133) described in Hike 42, Prairie Creek Loop, is a busy, widely worn path with many hikers, horses, and some motorbikes.

West Prairie Trail (Trail 134) leaves from the same trailhead but does not get even a tenth as much use. It can serve as a quiet and short alternative. The trail leaves from the trailhead, leading northwest in the mouth of West Prairie Creek. You quickly come to this creek, a splashing, full-size brook that emerges from a huge cone of scree just upstream."
