Giant White Pine

Giant White Pine Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"White pines are found all around this part of north- central Idaho, but this campground was named for one in particular—a giant white pine, the largest on record, nearly 200 feet tall. The tree died of disease in the late 1990s, and a sliver of it can still be found in the forest service ranger’s office at Potlatch.

The campground may lack that particular tree, but it still has plenty of others, which provide ample shade for the well- spaced camping spaces. The biggest draw now is the campground’s strategic location as a trailhead, and a lot of day hikers use the campground."
