South Fork/Castle Creek

South Fork/Castle Creek Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"ID 14, which runs from the Grangeville- Kooskia ID 13 to the town of Elk City, has a string of campgrounds in a woodsy national forest valley, all along the South Fork of the Clearwater River, with mountains towering on almost all sides.

South Fork and Castle Creek are the first two that visitors coming from Grangeville or Kooskia will encounter, and they are two of the most attractive, buried in woods close by the highway but (for the most part) effectively shielded from traffic and the external world. A camp host is available in summer season."
