Three Island Crossing State Park

Three Island Crossing State Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"One of just a handful of public campgrounds along the Snake River, and one of the largest state campgrounds in Idaho, this is a full-service campground with modern conveniences and a historic location. At this point on the Snake River, Oregon Trail travelers would cross—or try to cross—the river with their covered wagons, this being deemed the best point on the Snake River to do so. Most made it; some didn’t.

Summer celebrations of those efforts are scheduled nowadays, and convenience is the order of the day. The campground is mildly shaded but mostly open- air with a good view of the river. It is a relatively modern campground; there’s even a conference room for group meetings."
