Rattlesnake

Rattlesnake Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The Middle Fork of the Payette River runs past this campground, and the forested setting can’t be beat. Fishing is reputedly excellent in the river in this region, and hunting for deer and elk is popular, too. The campground is well equipped for RVs, and a covered “pavilion” recreation building is available. But Rattlesnake has had some hard times.

In 1988 a massive storm blew down most of the old-growth forest cover in the area and some of the facilities. The forest service rehabilitated the campground in 2002. Rattlesnake is managed by concessionaires. Hand-pump water is available, but the forest service recommends not drinking it and instead bringing your own."
