Mount Coeur d’Alene Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Hike through the Douglas fir, grand fir, western hemlock, western white pine, and western larch forest to the cabin at the summit of Mount Coeur d’Alene. The lower part of the trail up to the junction with Trail 227 is open to hikers only. Above there, horses are allowed, as are two- wheeled vehicles at certain times of the year.

As you leave the Mount Coeur d’Alene Picnic Area and Trailhead, the Mount Coeur d’Alene Trail (Trail 79) heads west- southwest through the picnic area. You soon pass a short spur trail, which leads to the outhouse, as you climb through the hemlock, fir, and larch forest."
